Dear Friends,

Journal of Minimal Access Surgery (JMAS), the official journal of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES), has come a long way since its inception in 2005. JMAS has established a niche as the premier English language journal showcasing minimal access surgery (MAS) from across the World and especially in the eastern hemisphere. The Journal features state of the art, contemporary articles on MAS and provides an opportunity to surgeons to publish on skills and advancements in MAS. The Journal owes its preeminence and the rapid achievements in a relatively short duration to the vision, dedication and exemplary commitment of a group of Editors led by Prof. Tehemton Udwadia and Dr. Deepraj Bhandarkar. The 2019 journal impact factor as reported in Incites Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate Analytics 2020) is 1.168.

The Editorial board at JMAS was expanded in June 2020 to make it more inclusive and representative. In addition to Editors and Associate Editors, there are Sectional Editors and a National editorial board comprising members who are keen to assist and contribute to the Journal. The process of formulating a new international editorial advisory board is in progress.

The Editors of JMAS comprise a cohesive group of committed professionals determined to improve the function and ratings of the Journal as well as promote good science. We have decided to increase the number of articles per issue in the Journal with immediate effect. The rationale is to shorten time to print for an accepted article. We have also shortened the article processing time from submission to first decision to 16 weeks with a view to promote efficiency. The journal online publication policy of Ahead of Print (AOP) ensures that authors and readers can view articles online much ahead of the journal issue.

As we eagerly embark on a new innings for JMAS, we earnestly solicit your support and contributions to the journal. We assure you of being receptive, communicative and alert to your professional requirements with the journal. Your views and suggestions are most welcome.

We hope that you are taking care during these challenging times due to COVID19 pandemic.

Best wishes and stay safe
